A BRIEF BACKGROUND

Golfing in the PCSAA started as an idea by its
Chairman Reynaldo A. Mones of Class 1971 back in 1997 to bring together not only the alumni golfers but also the non-golfers among us.  Then Norberto Garcia of Class 1977 thought of having a golf tournament among alumni back in 1998.  The idea initially met some resistance simply because no one in its Board of Trustees knows how to play golf.  After 3 attempts to get the approval of the Board, the First Father Godofredo Aldenhuijsen CICM Open Golf Tournament was set for 9 February 2002, the eve of the birthday of Fr. Godofredo, the Builder of the Parish and the School.

There were 64 golfers who participated in this initial venture.  Roland Garcia of Class 1968 won the overall championship.

On March 15, 2003, as war clouds loom over Iraq, the
Second Father Godofredo Aldenhuijsen CICM Open Golf Tournament was held at the Club Intramuros Golf Course.  Also on this day, the Paco Catholic School Alumni Golfers Association was formally launched with Lt. Gen. Rodolfo C. Garcia, Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and a member of PCS Class 1964 becoming its first chairperson.  The PCS AGA is an entity under the PCSAA.
